Is a CS2 Skinchanger Bannable?

Short answer: the VAC ban risk exists but is minimal, and there have been no cases of bans. On Faceit it is a different story — there the ban is guaranteed.

Safe to play on

  • CS2 Matchmaking
  • CS2 Premier
  • Public Valve servers

Never run it on

  • Faceit — instant ban, always
  • FastCup
  • Anything with EAC or Vanguard

That is not the same as promising you nothing can ever happen. Below is what is actually true, what raises the risk, and where you should never run a skinchanger at all.

Why the risk is low

VAC looks for tools that give a player an advantage — reading enemy positions out of memory, aiming, altering recoil. A skin changer does none of that. It swaps a model and a texture on your own machine and reads nothing the game does not already show you.

It also leaves nothing behind. Skins exist only while the app runs, they never touch your Steam inventory, and they cannot be traded or sold. When the app is closed, there is nothing on the account to find.

Skins visible in CS2 while Touch Skins is running

Where it is safe and where it is not

Safe

CS2 Matchmaking

Regular Valve servers. Touch Skins is designed for these.

Safe

CS2 Premier

Same anti-cheat as matchmaking — VAC only.

Safe

Public servers

Server-side anti-cheats do not inspect your client.

Never

Faceit

Instant ban, 100% of the time. Faceit runs a client-side anti-cheat that sees the app.

Never

FastCup

Client-side anti-cheat. Same outcome as Faceit.

Never

EAC / Vanguard games

Kernel-level anti-cheats. Do not run Touch Skins alongside them.

The difference is the kind of anti-cheat. VAC checks for behaviour that wins games. Faceit and FastCup install their own anti-cheat on your PC that looks at running processes — it does not care whether the app helps you aim, it simply sees it and bans you.

What actually raises your risk

Playing on an old version after a CS2 update

This is the big one. When the game changes and the app has not caught up, the app behaves in ways it was not meant to. Update first, play second.

Forgetting which platform you are on

One Faceit match with the app running is enough. If you play both, use a separate account for skins.

Downloading from a mirror

Copies of skin changers on random sites are the classic way to pick up a stealer. The only real build is on touchskins.io.

Questions people ask

Can you get banned for using a CS2 skin changer?

The risk of a VAC ban exists but is minimal, and there have been no cases of bans. A skin changer only changes how items look for you — it reads no tactical data and gives no advantage, so it is not what VAC is built to hunt. The risk is never mathematically zero, but nothing has happened so far.

Does VAC detect Touch Skins?

Touch Skins works with VAC, regular matchmaking, Premier and public servers. Our developers track every CS2 update and ship a new version when the game changes. Running an outdated version after a game update is the single biggest thing that raises your risk.

What will get you banned instantly?

Faceit. Using Touch Skins on Faceit results in a ban 100% of the time — Faceit runs its own client-side anti-cheat that sees the app directly. The same applies to FastCup, EAC and Vanguard. Play those without Touch Skins running.

Will my main account be banned if I use it on an alt?

No. Using Touch Skins on an alt account does not affect your main. Plenty of people play Faceit clean on their main and matchmaking with skins on an alt.

Is Touch Skins safe to install?

The app is digitally signed. Windows or your browser may still flag it as unknown — that is a false positive for any signed app without download history, and you can allow it. Never download Touch Skins from anywhere other than touchskins.io.

Do my skins show up in my Steam inventory?

No, and this matters for safety. Nothing is written to your Steam account. Skins exist only while the app runs, they cannot be traded or sold, and Steam has nothing to detect afterwards.

More on how it all works is in what a skin changer is, and the rest of the answers are in the FAQ.
